What exactly are dependents on your job?

I'm 16 and just now started working at Taco Bueno for Minimum Wage. I put 1 dependent down on my application. How much money will they take out of my paycheck say if i have already worked 18.5 hours? How do dependents work, what exactly are they for, and how can you calculate how much money they'll take out? Thank you!!!
