My boyfriend Violated his Probation, Questions?

My boyfriend went to jail in the past (last year, about four months) he got out & was put on probation. He was doing good and up until March he caught two charges and his probation was violated. It was resisting to a public officer charge & misd. Of a weapon. He went to court about two times after that throughout the period of time, his final court date is tomorrow because he got a continuance. He's been paying off his fee's, doing community service & has had really good behavior and is going to online school, he's been doing real good. He faces up to two years in prison. His probation officer said he would put in some good words for him considering his behavior has changed a lot. I'm wondering if its possible for him to get more probation time instead of going to jail? Is that possible at all? I know really nothing about court or probation.
